Meet the Artist

Studio13 GlassArt

Studio13 GlassArt is a unique glass art studio that features one-of-a-kind pieces designed and created by Shirley Bishop. Our mission is to provide the highest quality fused glass and mosaic classes to students of all levels, from beginner to advanced. Our classes are designed to inspire creativity and innovation in our students, and we strive to create a welcoming and supportive environment for everyone who walks through our doors.

History

Studio13 GlassArt was founded by Shirley Bishop in 2013.  The goal was to master all the elements of glass used in design while instructing others how to do the basics.  Her goal is to share her passion for glass with others. Shirley has been creating glass art for 11 years now and has developed a unique style that is all her own. Her creative designs are getting her recognized as an local artist in the PNW.  Over the years, she has taught hundreds of students and has built a loyal following of collectors who appreciate the beauty and craftsmanship of her work.

What's in a name.  Why Studio13?  Shirley's oldest brother (of 5) who also loved glass and dabbled in fusing, died in 2013 from ALS.  "He was a special person in my life."  As well, the numbers 1, 3, 13, 31 all represent important dates in my life.  Last of all Friday the 13th is always my lucky day!

Meet Shirley

I've been in love with all things glass since a very early age and never realized it until I had the opportunity to explore glass fusing myself in 2013.  At that stage of my life I was blessed to have the opportunity to grow my love of glass into a small hobby business that I’m now devoting all my time to since retiring.  From Open Studio Tours to weekend and weekday classes for the public young and old, every day I dream of taking my glass to the next level. Situated on 20 beautiful wooded acres in Washougal, WA my 1200 sft studio/workshop/gallery which was once our home has become a venue for weekend workshops and hopefully more in the years to come.  I welcome anyone and everyone to visit my studio and enjoy the aura of creativity that seems to blossom more and more every day.
